Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year!

Dear Roosevelt School Families,

Welcome to Roosevelt School! The 2019-2020 school year promises to be an exciting one for our students and staff as we capitalize on all the wonderful experiences we shared this past school year.

One of those experiences that I am most proud of is the establishment of our ‘Roosevelt Family Meetings.’ Students and staff who exemplify excellent character, essentially putting others before themselves, are recognized in front of their peers and family members in a school wide celebration. Recipients are honored with a certificate and a Roosevelt Pride pin. Further, the names of those who are identified for their good deeds are memorialized on our Roosevelt Pride tree painted by our students. This tradition has sparked a kindness epidemic in our school.

This school year, we will be focusing on social and emotional learning. Over the Summer, teachers and administrators were trained in Responsive Classroom and Dylan’s Wings of Change. Responsive Classroom is an evidence-based approach to teaching and discipline that focuses on engaging academics, positive community, effective management, and developmental awareness. This program will be adopted in Kindergarten through third grade. Dylan’s Wings of Change teaches social skills through activities of team bonding and trust. Student ambassadors from fifth and sixth grade will lead fourth grade students in activities that promote acceptance, inclusion, and empathy for all children.

Thank you for taking the time to view our website. Please continue to use our site as a resource to learn about events at school and about our community. I encourage you to support Roosevelt Elementary School by getting involved with the PTO.
