Dear Roosevelt School Families,

We hope this letter finds you excited about the beginning of a new year at Roosevelt School. As part of our ongoing commitment to providing a safe and efficient environment for our students, we are implementing new morning drop-off procedures that will be in effect starting from the first day of school, September 5, 2023.  There is no change to the dismissal procedures. All students will be dismissed to the blacktop with
their teacher.

Drop-off Time Window: To ensure a prompt start to our school day, we have established a window of time between 8:00 AM and 8:25 AM to drop off the students. This window will provide parents with a flexible yet structured timeframe to drop the students off each morning.

New Gym Entrance Point - In order to streamline the drop-off process and enhance safety, we have designated the New Gym as the single drop-off point for all students. Students may enter via the South Alley stairs or through the Summit Ave doors. Parents and students are still encouraged to walk to school, however, car drop-off points on Oak Ave and Summit Ave are still available. If choosing to drive and drop off your child on either Oak or Summit, please drop and go. Per the River Edge Police Department, you are not permitted to get out of your car. Please note that your child is responsible for getting themselves out of the car on the curbside of the school.

Safety and Accountability Measures: The safety and well-being of our students remain our utmost priority. With this in mind, we have implemented several safety and accountability measures during drop-off:

Supervision: Our school staff members will be present in the New Gym and corresponding hallways to supervise students and ensure a smooth transition to their classrooms.

Colored Tags:   Kindergarten and first grade students will be provided with a colored tag for
classroom identification purposes. It is essential that the tag is displayed visibly on each
student’s backpack.  Kindergarten and first grade parents will be notified when to come to the school to pick up their tag.

Punctuality: By following the designated drop-off window and utilizing the single drop-off point, we will be better equipped to begin our school day on time.

We believe that these new drop-off procedures will significantly contribute to a safer and more
efficient morning routine for everyone involved. Your cooperation and support are crucial in
ensuring the success of these changes.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the new drop-off procedures, please do not hesitate to contact me. We value your feedback and are committed to addressing any questions or concerns you may have.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in making our school a secure and nurturing environment for all students. We eagerly anticipate a successful school year ahead.

With Roosevelt Pride,

Michael Henzel
